Ryan Alicea
Twisting Trees and a Dream of Flowers, 2025
Graphite
5.5 × 8.5 inches
The tree is a still life that I drew when I was outside with my family, and the flowers are just from my brain when I get bored, I draw these flowers over and over again to fill up space and relaxes me when I feel that the real world is too much.
This piece is a visual representation of my brain a contrast between the real world and my imagination that runs so freely This piece is different from my regular pieces as it has no colors and is a graphite only piece. This is significant as I find graphite the hardest to work with it’s smudges and fades much like the creativity in my mind and nature fades through moments and time like graphite on a paper.
