Pumpkin, 2024
Ceramics
4.5 x 4 x 6.5 inches
I started this piece in the fall, near Halloween, so I decided to do something related to it. Initially I wanted a carved faced in the pumpkin, but later on decided on scraping that off because of the approaching deadline. This was my first project using coils, where I was able to explore the shape of the piece and its thickness. When glazing this piece, there wasn’t an orange color available, so I mixed dark yellow and rust red instead, which turned out very nice. I was experimenting a lot with color combinations and layers with this piece, which resulted in more realistic details.
