River Bartosik-Murray
Fragmented Shifting, 2024
Charcoal on paper
18 × 24 inches
This drawing was inspired by Auerbach's process of working in charcoal. He firmly used an eraser to carve out light values, sometimes even ripping the paper and gluing paper on top to cover the holes. Using this process, I drew a portrait of a figure that seems to be in motion, but is stagnantly pasted together to be real.
