Free Arts NYC provides under-served children and families with a unique combination of educational arts and mentoring programs that help them to foster the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential.

Parents and Children Together with Art (PACT)

Encourage children and their families to communicate on a deeper, more constructive level through collaborative art-making.

 

Program Description: Children and their parents or guardians pair with teams of volunteers for 8-week program cycles. Interactive, creative arts projects inspire collaboration, communication and teamwork within families. Working as a "design team," each family uses art as a vehicle to become stronger.

Time Commitment: 2 hours on a weekday evening for 8 weeks

Participants: 4-6 families, ages 6+

Volunteer Ratio: 1 volunteer : 2 families

Locations: Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx


REQUIREMENTS: Basic and supplemental application (includes a criminal background check), interview with a Free Arts staff member, 3-hour program training and 1.5 hour curriculum review.
