On November 30th, té casan launched its global brand and opening of their New York flagship store. The evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and designer shoes was held in support of Free Arts NYC. The event was hosted by Free Arts board members Amy Sacco and Mary Alice Stephenson, along with supporters Sarah Bailey, Marisa Brown, Lauren Davis, Zani Gugelmann and Lucy Sykes.
Shopgive
For the month of November Give highlighted Free Arts NYC as part of their "Organizations We Love" campaign. Give is a line of luxury handbags, travel bags and small leather goods. As the name implies, the company gave 10% of its online sales for November to Free Arts NYC.
The Catalog for Giving’s 11th Annual Urban Heroes Awards Benefit
As a part of the Catalog for Giving, Free Arts NYC participated in the 11th Annual Urban Heroes Awards Benefit on October 24th, 2006. Rosa Casiano, a long time Free Arts program participant, was a recipient of the award. Along with other Heroes, Rosa shared the story of her own personal struggles and hard won achievements.
Fuller Building Fall Open House
On October 18th, the Fuller Builing and Vornado Realty Trust hosted an evening of art and entertainment to benefit Free Arts NYC. More than 20 galleries participated in the evening festivites, opening their doors for a night of art exhibitions, music and dance.
Bonnie Young’s Children’s Lifestyle Collection Launch
On September 16th, Donna Karan New York hosted a party for long-time Free Arts supporter, Bonnie Young, who launched her Children’s Lifestyle Collection. The event benefited Free Arts NYC through the sale of a special edition t-shirt and 20% of sales for the month.
Saks Fifth Avenue: Want It!
On September 13th, Saks Fifth Avenue made a generous contribution to Free Arts NYC as a part of its celebration of Want It!, a storewide fashion event that featured fall’s most irresistible styles, cocktails and entertainment. Committee memebers included Free Arts supporters Lisa Airan, Francisco Costa, Donna Karan, Derek Lam, Amy Sacco, Mary Alice Stephenson, Jamie Tisch and Natalia Vodianova. The event also featured the Extra Fine Merino Wool Lounge, where guests could knit a row to benefit Free Arts NYC.
Young Benefactor Summer Benefit
The July 19th Free Arts NYC Young Benefactor Summer Benefit, sponsored by fasion house Ports 1961 was a huge success, raising over $40,000 for our art mentoring programs. Co-chaired by Celia Chen, Tia Cibani and Melissa Skoog, this Latin-night themed event featured Grey Goose cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, raffles of luxurious items and a performance by Pierre Dulaine’s young ballroom dancing troupe. 7th Annual Art Auction Benefit
On May 23rd, Vanity Fair and Emporio Armani presented Free Arts NYC’s 7th Annual Benefit Art Auction at Phillips de Pury & Company, raising over $555,000 for Free Arts programs! Along with Benefit chairs Amy Sacco and Mary Alice Stephenson, we would like to thank Honorary chairs Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who were among the many supporters who came out to bid on live and silent auction photographs and luxury packages. Other celebrity guests included Free Arts NYC ambassadors Eva Mendes, Liv Tyler and Royston Langdon, as well as Frederique van Der Wal, artists Phillip-Lorca di Corcia and Sarah Charlesworth. The evening’s highlights included the live auction of a sminal self-portrait Polaroid by long-time Free Arts supporter Chuck Close, which sold for $41,000! Guests also enjoyed cocktals courtesy of Grey Goose vodka, and delectable hor d’oeuvres provided by Bryan Calvert. Click to view photos.
2006 Art from the Heart Gallery Show
Our third annual Art from the Heart gallery show, featuring masterpieces from participated Free Arts NYC children and families, took place on May 22nd, in the galleries of Phillips de Pury & Company, families, agency partners, staff and volunteers gathered together for a lovely evening reception to view the exceptional artworks created in our programs.
Annual Art Lecture Luncheon
The annual Art Lecture Luncheon, hosted by board member Nohra Haime on October 24th, was a great success. This year the lunch featured a silent auction and raffle of a beautiful Picasso print. Dr. Cynthia Nachmani presented an inspiring lecture, “Hot or Cold: Avant-Garde or Out.” Stay tuned for information about this year’s luncheon.
Volunteer Recognition Party
During Volunteer Apreciation week in April, Free Arts NYC recognized the hard work and dedication of our fantastic volunteers. The event was hosted at Phebe’s Tavern & Grill volunteers, Free Arts staff and friends mixed and mingled while sipping on Grey Goose cocktails and enjoying Phebe’s tasty snacks.
Child Magazine Fashion Show
On February 6th, Child Magazine supported Free Arts NYC at its 2nd annual Fall Fashion Show at Bryant Park. Celebrity children strutted the runway in designer clothes from Cynthia Rowley, Sean John, Catherine Malandrino, Baby Phat and G-Unit, to name a few. Free Arts NYC benefited from a generous donation from Child and an on-line auction of the original designs from the catwalk.
POLO/Ralph Lauren G.I.V.E. Campaign
Make a difference, and look good doing it. POLO Jeans launches its annual G.I.V.E. (Get Involved. Volunteer. Exceed.) campaign. 10% of sales from the G.I.V.E. collection directly benefit the efforts of volunteers and their specific non-profit organizations.
